Myth #1:
Philadelphia is dangerous, there are black people there who will shoot you or rape you or mug you.
Fact:
I know someone who had his bag stolen as he walked home. I've just been informed by the housing advocate for oakland that there are drug dealers a few blocks away, and there have been several shootings and a "shoot out" (that's fire back and forth between some people) in the last 6 months.
Conclusion:
It's not like going from the burbs to center city. It's like going from off-center city to...center city
