A good old fashioned pampering

I've been trying to post at least once from every city along the way. Alas, Edinburgh, I barely got to see you at all; 24 hours and I was already back on the road. Nevertheless I did get to achieve what I planned, which was to wander around the city (which, admittedly, isn't that big) and orient myself. Yes, that was the grand plan. The last few months I've been daydreaming the possibility working in one of the Edinburgh venues for Fringe time. It's quite a big step for me, uprooting to the opposite end of the world. I wanted to see the city first before packing my bags and hitting the winds.

You know what, Edinburgh fucking rocks. I think I can understand Edinburgh. It has the right kind of feel. During the next months I'm going to be looking for work like a hound searching for sausage. Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh.

At the moment we're in Sheffield for a convention about running science fiction conventions. My favourite bit is that we're staying in a four-star hotel, also the convention venue. I've had a bath (there's a BATH in the ROOM - I did forget to ask for bubble bath at reception, fail) and I've booked my massage for Sunday morning. I'm going to see if the fitness centre has an exercise bike as I think I'd like to cycle for an hour listening to music. I think that would be nice. The one draw back is the I've just had to spend 14 pounds for 24 hours worth of internet access. It's a hard reality when we've been flittering from hostel to hostel for the last month, with all but one place offering free wireless (and the one exception was St Petersburg, which you kind of expect). But I think I can make a bit of a sacrifice; they do have an indoor garden here.

In one week's time I'll be on a plane flying home. Melbourne, don't do anything drastic before I get back, like destroy one of the city's iconic live music venues. You have to knock that shit off. Save The Tote.
