I finally finished reading Avinash Kaushik's Web Analytics book today. I made it a pretty thorough read and ended up with
76 pages of notes. Totally got me juiced about analytics and also now I'm really looking forward to reading my other two big books... One on landing page optimization and another on prioritizing web usability.
/ web nerdiness
Right after I finished the book I was in a great mood, so I took the mountain bike out to Walnut Creek.
I was super pumped and ended up hammering through a few loops a little too hard. No warm up, just hammer time. Probably a big mistake because I felt like my lungs were going to explode and now I've got this wretched chest cough. Feels like i loosed some junk up in my body. Definitely been too long since I've done hard cardio.
The ride was pretty cool though. I threw some punk & metal on my iPhone, stuffed it into my camelbak and turned the speakerphone up. That = jammies while riding.
The Walnut Creek trails have been getting progressively faster due to some enthusiastic dudes with shovels. Over the last year or so more and more little jumps and berms have been showing up. Makes for super fun riding.
It appears in the last few months they've turned a giant section into some pretty serious 9th street style jumps (
video). Mostly tabletops jumps (
example), but there might have been some big doubles (
vid of kids jumping doubles).
The place i was at isn't nearly as big as those videos, but It looks like a fun little area now. And this caused my first twinge of regret since selling my dirt jumper bike last summer.
I sold it with the intention of getting another one... but I wont be able to do that for quite some time. So for now, I just have to peddle around the fun section. Sad that I cant ride the jumps.
aside from the horrid cough and quixotic desire to ride dirt jumps again, today was pretty bad ass.
boomer sooner.
