Another productive but too-short weekend. We rented a Zipcar on Saturday to take a whole crapload of donations to the Goodwill, and then head out to IKEA in New Jersey. Surprisingly, it wasn't as hellishly crowded as I expected it to be, and we got in, picked out our stuff, and got out with our carload in a decent amount of time. Traffic going into the Holland Tunnel slowed us down, but we got back to Brooklyn around 3:30.
I started right away putting our new office cabinets together, and was done in a matter of... well, it took the rest of the day, really. In the process of assembly, I ended up crushing the index finger of my right hand which in turn sent the edge of my unkempt fingernail right into my skin leaving me bleeding quite profusely. I seem to be accident prone these days. Some gauze and tape and I was back to work in no time. When I'm determined to get IKEA furniture assembled, it seems nothing can stop me.
We haven't taken the time to actually file anything in our new filing cabinets as Sunday was a social day with little free time. Brunch at noon with Rita and Bertram and their friends who just moved into our building. Knitting circle in the afternoon with four girlfriends. It was a really nice day. Did laundry and my taxes last night and will be busy preparing for my trip the rest of this week... I leave on Thursday for China and will be there for a week, then return via LA where Darren will meet me and we'll spend some time with his brother Scott and head up to a spa in Santa Barbara. Should be a nice little mini-vacation.
