Aww! What a sweet scene. Lovely way to start off the posting of the fics!
I like how Chad's completely comfortable with his feelings for Ryan--and how he's the one who assumes Ryan wouldn't feel the same way, for a change. Also:
It's simply that Chad knows he can. Talk to Ryan about anything, that is, and that Ryan would be okay with it.
That's probably the most succinct summation of the way I see their friendship I've read.
Oh, and I love how although Chad tries to pretend he's kissed lots of boys before, he's not at all upset or embarrassed when Ryan knows it's a lie. They're just so darn comfortable together, and I love it.
"I might decide to give up musical theater and dye my hair and start working as a barista at Starbucks."
Hee! I was just re-reading that story yesterday.
"Ah ah ah...I asked you a question. You ever kiss a boy, Evans?"
Ryan's smirk mirrors Chad's, then slowly curls into an evil grin. "Not yet."*snicker ( ... )

There's a story where Ryan dyes his hair and becomes a barista at starbucks?
Yep. I don't get the impression that he's given up theatre (there's a reference to doing the Starbucks thing "between school and off-off-off Broadway shows"), but the dark hair and Starbucks are there: Different by magickalmolly.
For a moment I started to get paranoid and think that maybe Different was posted after the fic deadline, which would mean this couldn't possibly be a deliberate reference, but the timeline still works--the post is dated May 30. So for now I choose to believe it is a reference. :)

was awesome. I really enjoy Ryan-characterizations that give him a wicked sense of humor.
Thanks for sharing this lovely story!

Yes, yes, thank you for this. I love almost all the different "takes" one can give to a Chad/Ryan relationship, but Chad just strikes me as the type of guy that, once he's accepted someone as a friend, their details really don't matter. And with Chad liking Ryan...I think it's just that. He likes Ryan, not a pretty gay boy. Those are details; it's the person that's important.
Anyway! Sorry; I've been waiting a MONTH to reply to feedback, and I'm kinda excited. :D
Thank you so much for reading.

Something about it just comes across as so sincere and real. That's just wonderful. I am SO happy that you got that from my story. I really was trying for that -- something quiet and intimate, but they're still silly boys, so it couldn't be too serious. I'm stoked that that came across.
Really great job! Can't wait to find out who this is... TA-DA! :D

Your characterization was perfect, too. They were typical teenage boys, with their teasing and dirty jokes, but beneath all that they had real insecurities and feelings. Pretty much this fic was awesome in every way it could be.
