Ok, well I am home sick today so I though I would post a few things
that I thought might inspire some other people since "It's not about
me."
These are quotations from Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)found only in the
Catholic Bible, but I think that they can be inspiring to people of
every religion. If I had the time I would post like the entire book
because it is such an inspiring book, but oh well......if u like it u
can borrow my Bible sometime to read it.
"The sand of the sea, the drops of
rain,
and the days of eternity-- who can
count them?
The hight of Heaven, the breadth of
the Earth,
the abyss and wisdom-- who
can search them out?"
Sirach 1:2-3
"Fear of the Lord is true wisdom"
Sirach 1:10
"If you desire wisdom, keep the
commandments,
and the Lord will lavish her upon
you."
Sirach 1:26
"Do not refrain from speaking at the
proper moment,
and do not hide your wisdom."
Sirach 4:23
"When you gain friends, gain them
through testing,
and do not trust the hastily.
For there are friends who are such
when it suits them,
but they will not stand by you in
time of trouble.
And there are friends who change
into enemies,
and tell of the qyarrel to your
disgrace."
Sirach 6:7-9
"Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter:
Whoever finds one has found a
treasure."
Sirach 6:14
"Do no evil, and evil will never
overtake you.
Stay away from wrong, and it will
turn away from you.
Do not sow in the furrows of
injustice,
and you will not reap a sevenfold
crop.
Sirach 7:1-3
"Do not reveal your thoughts to
anyone,
or you may drive away your
happiness."
Sirach 8:19
"Do not praise individuals for their
good looks,
or loathe anyone because of
appearence alone."
Sirach 11:2
Ok, well that's all I am
going to post of those right now but I have another quotation by Mother
Teresa that I am going to include as well.
"It is our emptiness and lowliness that God needs and not our
plentitude. These are a few ways we can practice humility.
Speak as little as possible of oneself.
Mind one's own business.
Avoid curiosity.
Do not want to manage other people affairs.
Accept contradiction and correction cheerfully.
Pass over the mistakes of others.
Accept blame when innocent.
Yield to the will of others.
Accept insults and injuries.
Accept being slighted, forgotten, or disliked.
Be kind and gentle even under provocation.
Do not seek to be specially loved and admired.
Never stand on one's dignity.
Yield in discussion even though one is right.
Choose always the hardest."
-Mother Teresa of Calcutta
I am interested in hearing how other people interpret these things and if they inspired anyone else like they did to me.
Please comment but,
"Do not reveal your thoughts to
anyone,
or you may drive away your
happiness."
