A Tribute to Yitzhak Rabin z"l

Oct 26, 2004 16:09

Rabin was the commander of Israel's army during the 1967 war. This picture shows Narkiss, Dayan, and Rabin walking into the Old City just after capturing it.

As Prime Minister, Rabin worked for peace.

"Hu lahatz yadayim l'oyvim mipnei shehu he'emin bachashivut hashalom."
"He shook hands with enemies because he believed in peace."

At the peace rally, Rabin spoke, and then led the crowd in singing Shir L'Shalom (Song of Peace.) He folded up the lyrics and put them into his pocket, where minutes later, the bullet went through them, killing him.

"And sing, sing a song for peace,
don't whisper a prayer,
it's better to sing a song for peace
with a giant shout!"

The country was in shock.

Pray that his dream lives on and we will have peace, now and forever.

Shalom Haver. Goodbye Friend.
