Things have happened, but I'm okay. Someone (or some
thing?) keeps taking stuff from my desk or my possessions at work: about a month ago, it was all of my keys; this past weekend, it was my teaching bag containing only notes, a planner, and three written-but-unstamped letters to my friends in Chicago; yesterday, it was a dinky (but lovingly drawn) map worksheet I was making for class. So in theory, someone could have a key to my apartment, the address of my apartment, a cartoonishly simplified map of my hometown, a work anecdote regarding a 40-minute staff meeting discussion with a pink used condom sitting in the middle of the conference table, and the way I write goodbye.
I feel bad because I am posting here without having updated my family in six weeks. There's more and I may have more time soon, so stories will leak out here and there. But I have to post now because you have never seen a YouTube before--and I gotta enlighten with THE. BEST. one for the occasion:

Anything can happen on Halloween, indeed. Gonna follow my friend Tesni's lead and start sleeping with a rusty knife under my pillow.
