in their bikes, and in their door keys

I am a big fan of telling it like it is--as an action, and as an Aaron Neville signature jam (second only to the "Don't Know Much" Linda Ronstadt duet). But now that I've finally listened to this album in full, there's Bill Fay's take, too:

Bill Fay - Tell It Like It Is (3.46MB)

It's hard to tell it like it is in a foreign language. It gets real easy to lie about things because you simply do not have vocabulary for the truth. This bothers me, but luckily most of my Japanese conversations have been short (with shopkeeps, waitstaff, etc.), propelled mostly by sheepish looks (from me) and excellent service (from them).

I don't know when, or if, I will ever reach the emotional heights of this (surprisingly, super tender??) Aaron Neville/Linda Ronstadt vid while I'm here in Osaka. Right now I am probably closer to Bill Fay's apocalyptic reckoning. This is probably because I don't start work until Monday, and have had a lot of free time on my hands.

Before I go, here's another call-it-as-I-see-it moment: y'all should quit!
