BIG BIG SUMMARY
Gojyo told me to summarize Swift's book... and because I'm a push-over, I did. I'm missing details, skipping minor characters altogether and trivializing IMPORTANT EVENTS, yo. But here it is anyway.

Swift lived in a nice happy place with his crazy, slightly traumatized mommy, and his power-hungry, murderer father... it was a happy home, rly. Swift thought humans were monkeys and in his games, he was big, black animals. It was nice.
As he grew up, his daddy got him teachers and a playmate, Gahrazel. Gahrazel was the son of the evil tribe leader, Ponclast. Who was even worse than Swift's daddy in all aspects. Gahrazel, however, was a good kid and he and Swift became good friends. Gahrazel taught Swift about puberty, sex and other stuff every 6 year old has to know to survive in the world. Then Cal came and Swift got to put all this knowledge in practice.
No, okay, actually. Swift's mommy hated Cal, therefore, Swift hated Cal. But it didn't last, one night while slightly drunk, Swift went to talk to him and then he got a crush. Because kids are like that. They became friends, at least on Swift's part, and when Cobweb (Swift's mommy) tried to fuck Cal's shit up, Swift went after him and got a kiss for his efforts. (From Cal, not from Cobweb. There is no incest in this trilogy) After that, Swift got confused and angry 'cause he didn't get Cal. And sometime later Cal got pregnant. Swift decided to like Cal again while the poor guy was having the baby.
More time passed, Gahrazel became a soldier, Swift's horrible adolescence took his toll and Feybraiha (when boys grow up) came upon him. This meant Swift had to had sex for the first time (my canon is awesome) and because life is sweet, Swift's first had to be Cal. And so it was, and Swift's first time was incredibly awkward. "It is a sword, it will kill me!" is one of the most retarded things one can say just before having sex, I'm sure. But they got over it, and had sex other times later.
In the meantime, Gahrazel had grown up. And he hated life in the tribe and wanted to flee. Gahrazel was stupid too, so he told Swift that he was going to leave. Swift was torn, on one hand, he had his best friend, on the other, Gahrazel's leaving could cause his crazy, murdering daddy lots of trouble, because others could follow. This would not only risk his daddy, but also the rest of his family. Anyway, Swift went to Cal, because obviously, when in doubt you have to go ask the craziest person you trust. Cal told him to go tell daddy. Swift sent a note, daddy got mad at him, Swift said he'd been banging Gahrazel, daddy chilled out, Gahrazel was arrested and later on executed. Life went on.
Eventually, Terzian (Swift's daddy) left to find the Gelaming, and presumably kill them all and bring their heads back... he got lost in the way, and due to a series of unfortunate events, Swift, Cal, and Leef (a soldier with whom Swift had had a quasi-sexual adventure earlier in his life and had been taken into consideration for Swift's Feybraiha) followed. During their trip, they have threesomes in the wilderness, eat horse and come across a couple of Wraeththu settlements. In the last one, Swift got a lapdance and we as readers discovered that his semen is the color of dawn. After leaving the lapdancers place, they entered a forest in which Cal and Swift are forced to see some horrible emo stuff.
Swift sees the ghost of Gahrazel, who does him the favor of explaining in detail just how exactly he was killed. During Gahrazel execution, he was given a poison that made him melt, then Terzian raped him, and while Gahrazel's spirit was still there, he saw as Terzian took his heart out and shared it with Ponclast, Gahrazel's father. Swift is understandably broken by this story, he cries a lot and says he can't ask for forgiveness. He says he was stupid, and selfish and a coward. Gahrazel tells him he'll forgive him if Swift says what he wants to hear. Swift says he loves him, Gahrazel forgives him and asks him to forgive him back. Swift doesn't understand why, but forgives him anyway. In the forest, I don't remember if it was before or after Gahrazel, Swift learns of the relationship his father had with Ponclast. And after that, he meets Pell who is a bit like the light at the end of the tunnel. Pell asks Swift to look after Cal, and to the question "What is real?" Pell answers "You are, remember that."
Next, Swift is kindly invited to Cal's issues: Cal meets Orien, that guy he killed and hung from his own guts. There is some talk between them and in the end Cal touches Orien, who was a dead body. Cal is covered in blood, but, Swift notes, he stands with his back unbent. They manage to leave the forest with their sanity relatively intact and then Swift goes have sex with Cal in the river :D. Their bliss is short-lived, for as soon as they get back to their camp, they meet a bunch of Gelaming people, whose intention is to escort the to Imbrilim, a Gelaming camp close by. Here, Swift sees Seel for the first time, and the kid gets little hearts all around him.
In Imbrilim, Swift learns that 1) He's not going to find his daddy 2) The Gelaming want him for something. 3) Cal won't be with them for long and 4) Seel is really, really hot. During his stay in Imbrilim, Swift raises caste, has sex with Rue, learns that they want him to be leader of the Varrs and is told to perform Grissecon (sex ritual... it's all about sex here) and to have a baby with Seel. He does, and while Seel is pregnant, they go back home.
After two years, Swift returns to his mommy, who had missed him. Seel has his baby, they name him Azriel, and Cobweb looks after him while his parents go off to fight mean Ponclast.
ULTIMATE BATTLE OF ULTIMATE DESTINY ENSUES. Okay, so, during the Grissecon back in Imbrilim, Swift and Seel mingled their essences to make a shiny ball, here, they released the shiny ball. The thing is, Ponclast had a shiny ball himself. So the shiny balls fought... yes, they basically fought with the power of their semen. Swift's shiny ball was losing, so Seel stripped him and had sex with him to give their shiny ball more power... and they won. They sort of dressed Swift, who'd gone slightly catatonic, and then they went to find Ponclast.
Swift actually wanted to kill Ponclast with fire a lot. Ponclast was unarmed, and they had won, but Swift hated him and attacked him with a knife before they restrained him and sent him to take a walk, there he talked to Thiede, who told him "Lolz I'm the first Wraeththu" Only without the "lolz" and Swift was all "Oh."
Back home again, Thiede was feeling generous and let them have Terzian back. Terzian was sick and dying, and they yelled at each other a lot, but Swift still loved him. Near the end, Terzian said he loved Cal, and Swift asked Thiede for him. Cal came, he talked to Swift briefly and went to see Terzian. Terzian had died by next morning and Swift was never 100% sure if he had actually seen Cal or if it had been an illusion.
The book ends with Swift planning to visit Immanion with Seel, and him wanting Cal to come back home.
