Channeling Jennifer

I love Jennifer Jason Leigh.

I first saw her in a tv film made in 1981 about a teenager struggling with anorexia. Her performance was so genuine and honest and it stayed with me for years afterward. Then came Fast Times At Ridgemont High, the quintessential Gen X high school film. Once again, JJL was able to take an ingenue role and give it more depth and reality than most actresses of the day would have. Through the years she has acted in various memorable flicks such as Single White Female, Short Cuts, Georgia, Existenz, The Anniversary Party, and The Jacket. Even in supporting roles, Ms. Leigh manages to outshine lead actors.

I have recently been cast in a short film called The Cleavers. Its about a 30-something couple who kidnap a college age woman with the intent of eating her, but then decide she would would be a decent surrogate for their child*which they are obviously not able to have* This is a type of role I can easily see JJL in. Now's my chance to pay homage to one of my fave actresses that I've admired for nearly 20 years.

Salud, Jennifer, this one's for you:)
