Idiot Meter, Episode 2

Feb 12, 2010 17:54

I hate being inconvenienced...especially when it involves dangerous weather conditions.

I was booked to shoot a student film at the Art Institute of Atlanta today on a short notice. I knew of course there may be some snow and wasn't too concerned about it yesterday. But today around 3pm there was a fair amount of snow coming down and I was scheduled to film at 4. I left my apt around 3:15 anticipating some traffic but it took nearly 40 minutes to drive down GA 400 to AIA, so I called the student, who was also en route to AIA, and stuck on I-285. He said for me to just get there and wait, that he would be there as soon as he could. Anyway, I got there, and there was no one there, no cars in the student or visitor lot, but a few near the front. I got in and waited around near the film studio for about 45 minutes, then someone came up and said they were closing the building, and anyone who was there had to leave.

I mean, maybe I'm just being cantankerous, but if it had been MY film project, I would have called the school to make sure it was open, then called my actors to let them know the facility may not be open, and have them NOT drive on icy roads only to have to turn around and drive back.

End of this episode of The Idiot Meter...stay tuned
