Ours are all on the house grid. i am not sure what i think of this.

Usually even hard wired smoke alarms have 9 volt battery back-ups in them in the event the power goes out.

then i shall endevor to change those since i was able to shut them off last night when a candle got smoky. just flipped the breaker and they went off.

Yip, I have six of them around the house. Even though they are hardwired together on the power, they each have a 9 volt battery.

I guess this means a trip to Sams Club. I hope they have a "six pack" ;)

Oh, this also means I need to swap leach fields on my septic system. Nothing life saving, but will keep things from getting stinky :P

I remember septic tanks! ours always had a little "oasis" in the middle of the front yard which we never used anyway. During the drought of 88 it looked like the nile river. (it drained down a hill) it was the ONLY GREEN for acres. and the grass grew like trees around the little black stream.
