Aaaand it's Thursday. However, this post is primarily about the events of last weekend!
First off: the Thunder get-together at Onyx and DarkTiger's was nice. Bonus points to Alpha for bringing the cheezburger cassarole. And while there were a multitude of potato chips, at least they were Doritos (I likes me some Doritos). And while Thunder had awesome music and exploding hamsters (that's how fireworks work, right?) they really could'a picked a better song to end on than "Yankee Doodle." It was building up a crescendo, then running into a brick wall. They should've put that in the middle with all the other patriotic songs.
On a slightly sour note, there was the trip to Steak n' Shake afterward. Do refer to Alpha's journal for that one. I was *so* hoping she would'a got the chance to lay into that manager...
Sunday! My sincerest apologies to Alpha for missing her birthday. I hope it was nice and happy and full of cake!
In the 'stead, Leilanie and I joined my parents for a trip to the ol' baseball game. We got there a bit towards halfway in a double-header: two games for the price of none! (Dad's company provided the tickets). We hadn't been sitting down for 10 minutes when the announcer lady came up and asked if we would like to help in one of their between-inning games. So, we did! All we really had to do was put on a t-shirt that had a KY Lotto logo on it and root for our respective lottery in a little race, which was something like Plink-O on "The Price is Right." Aside from the fact that I'm above an XL-sized person, I won! So, they gave me a fist full of vouchers for some free lottery tickets. I don't normally play the lottery, since it's more like a tax for people who don't know how to do math, I've got nothing to lose with free tickets!
By the start of the next inning, we were more than surprised to see that the first pitch was going to be thrown by a baby T-rex! It was a fellow in a very elaborate costume belonging to the "Walking with Dinosaurs" show at Broadbent next month. I swear the designers must'a had a part in that "Lion King" production. It looked like one of the animatronic dinos that show up at the Science Center from time to time, but it was free-moving and interactive (not to mention had a pair of human legs showing up out of the bottom, but it otherwise looked neat!)
Oh! And happy day! As of Tuesday, I now have a full lease on the apartment! No more monthly worries and I get to officially recognize Leilanie with a big hug and a "Welcome home."
Aside from the fact I keep waking up at 9 AM, I'm feelin' pretty good lately!
