One day they'll see, and trust me, so will you, that contradiction for the sake of disagreeing, does not give your words a greater value of truth ( Read more... )

i agree but disagree. i agree in the sense that many women don't deserve respect and equality......HOWEVER, many men don't either. it has nothing to do with man vs. woman anymore. it is individual to individual.

now, it is statement somewhere in our ammendments or in some doctrine that women are legally equal to men, by law we are to be equal and are stated to be. The remaining matter of equal treatment once again lays in the hands of the individual.

example:
mister employer number one - bigot, probably fat
mister employer number two - maybe a little limp wristed
mister employee number one - trying to put food on table
miss employee number two - trying to put food on the table

miss employee seeks a job with mister employer number one, as does mister employee number one. now they are both hired but mister employer number one decides to raise mister employee number one's wages more than miss employee number two's!! why is this? because it is stated somewhere that women should be payed less?! NO! this happens because mister employer number one is a bigotted fat guy! he really feels mister employee number one deserves better pay!! NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT. miss employee number two can make a fuss, but she has no REAL proof that mister employee number one isn't better than her. unfair? sure.

NOWWW, mister employer number two hires both employees this time and they are both payed equally. maybe miss employee number two even gets a raised wage because of mister employer number one's limped wrist (it is not unheard of for a woman to get payed more because of prejudices coming from the other end of the spectrum).

i think i got off track.

anyway, i also think that being a strong person doesn't make you a feminist at all. i think they are completely unrelated and on two different charts. feminism still deals with having something to prove and fighting for something. if you're strong and not for a cause other than yourself, than you're just a strong, respectable person of equal rights!!

once again, i got off track 2959583 times.

I see your point, but by carrying yourself in a way to suggest that you believe you're equal to men, especially when they may feel otherwise, makes you an advocate for women's rights...in other words, a feminist. You may have nothing to prove to anyone else, but if you BELIEVE yourself to be deserving of respect, and if your pride tells you that you're equal, than I think being "strong" in that manner has EVERYTHING to do with feminism (if you're a woman).

In many ways the society does run individual to individual now, but in many ways it does not.
