The Ring & The Proposal

For those who aren't in my facebook friends' list, I proposed to Julaine on Saturday morning. All families are obviously happy, as are we. Here is the details for those interested.

The Ring: solitaire princess-cut in a trellis or tulip setting. White gold band. She loves it.

The Proposal: I took her to the place we are having our reception. There is a second floor that looks over the atrium. I took her up there with her eyes closed. When I told her to open her eyes, I was standing there holding black poster boards that I painted a message on with white paint (like that Bob Dylan video or that scene from "Love Actually"). It was 10 or so signs telling her how much I love her and stuff.

Then she walked up to the balcony part where she saw the 50 flowers I made from paper for the occasion in vases on the tables surrounding us. Then she looked down over the balcony edge to see the words "Will You Marry Me?" spread out on the white tables below. Each letter in the phrase was on a piece of poster board and each one was made out of pictures of me, Julaine, and Hannah over the years.

She turns around, and I am on one knee with the ring.

The joke going around amongst people is that we did it all backwards. We have a kid, then got pregnant, then planned our wedding, and then proposed. What does it matter though, considering how happy we are?
