welcome to the world

I woke this morning to calls informing me that one of my best friends had 2 healthy babies. The idea of new life is always striking to me. Babies are innocent. They are little lives that have not yet known grief, heartache, or sorrow. They have the whole world ahead of them. Whole lives to plan and shape and make dreams for. Anyone who knows me knows that I love children. If I had to choose an age, I'd say still young, but a bit older. Pint sized kids that can talk and laugh and understand and shock you with their knowledge and their innocence are the ones that I like to be around. Small children remind me of innocence, of laughter, of what it was like to play make believe. But infants- infants give me hope. Someone (I don't remember her name) said "a baby is God's opinion that life should go on." I couldn't agree more... Welcome to the world Gwendolyn and John. Happy Birthday!

On the down side of today, I've been missing people a lot. I'm exhausted from studying a ton, trying to have a bit of a life, and not sleeping as much as I should. I started to write that I want to talk to certain people, but that's not really it. I want to be in the presence of people I love. I'm going home this weekend so that will be good, but it'll be very fast. I'll be going to DC in October. That should be good...but we'll see. There are some others I really want to see but may not see for years.  I don't know. Things are settling in fine here and I'm loving it, but I do feel isolated at times. Tonight is one of those nights.

I want to be:
-walking around in my boots through the grassmarket on the way to El Bario with the Scotland crowd
-biking drunkenly back from Jenkins with Cass...stopping to look at a frog
-sitting on my bed watching Scrubs with Ben & Wishy
-walking to the park to swing with Apey
     -fishing with my family
-sitting at a traffic light in Maryland
-at Walmart with the Idlewild gang
-lounging in the quad in Bradley
     -complaining about work at Kennedy
     -waltzing with Steve in Pomerane
     -on Franklin with the OT
     -visiting KT and her family
-A MILLION PLACES OTHER THAN HERE (but just for a while... just for tonight)
