Thanks for reading and reviewing. I do like exploring what Sam's like without Dean, ever since Mystery Spot and Sam's first six months without Dean. I think Sam tried very hard not to turn into the killing machine that he became during his pre-view of life without Dean; even hanging out with a demon was better than being alone for him. I kept Ruby out of this story because she just seemed an unnecessary complication, and the aired timeline about Sam's summer is vague enough that you could argue that Sam didn't meet up with Ruby until after the Fourth.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I think the first thing that Sam felt every day during that summer was Dean's absence, but he also wanted to honor Dean's wishes when he could. He probably asked himself WWDD (what would Dean do?)a lot.
