I don't deny the pwoer of religion, I deny the purpose. The power of religion is amazing. It has turned many convicted felons completely around and taken them off the street, druggies, all types of bad poeple(maybe they're not bad, but they do bad things) as well. And, fortunately, the power of religion, even if it has no base or basis, has gotten them to see the wrongs of their ways, and gotten them to change. However, there are still many people who don't have religion that are still perfectly functioning, non-criminal human beings. So, in some cases, religion isn't necessary nor does it have power over them. In a book I read about Heaven and Hell, CS Lewis once said that because we are born with what he thinks are innate morals, there must be a God. This however, is not true. These morals are not innate whatsoever, for we learn them from our parents and our surroundings. They also come from the societal structure of our ancestors and our preevolutionaries (the monkeys/apes), so that statement is disproved, according to me. So, if that was the base argument of the existence of God, you might as well just convert to atheism now. Lol. But that's just one attempt at proving it. Truth is: we can entiehr prove nor disprove the existence of Dios. I have tried and tried, but I always come up with same answer: He COULD still exist. I just don't believe that He does. The writers of the Bible could all have had acute psychosis or dementia, and just imagined the "voice of God", or maybe they really did communicate with Him. I can't know. But I can believe, or not believe. A believer can always say that God wills it, or wills it not to be. A non-believer can always ask How can that logically happen? and one cannot logically answer that question, when speaking of God, so you must turn back to God Himself. And thus, we run around in circles about the issue.
But one thing is for certain: there is no purpose to existence. Some may say it is to solve problems. We solve problems only created by existence, for if there was no existence, there would exist no problems. Upon creating existence, there was created problems, however you believe existence itself came about. There was no reasoning behind our creation or evolution; thus, we have no reason in existing. We were just a biproduct of some fortunate coincidences that made it so that somehow some proteins synthesized and formed bacteria, which evolved and grew into some sorts of life, which then evolved and moved away from the water, which then created land animals, so forth and so on, until we get to humans. I think you get the point, if you've read this whole things. Ayn Rand is right, whether you like it or not, and we cannot prove nor can we disprove the existence of God, and religion is a good thing to have, if not so good to actually believe in.
