I bought the Pati Pati magazine last Saturday and was so excited to read the first real article about Gackt in a year that I decided to translate it right away. Between class and work, that is. XD

Ahh, I see~ That might be true, now that you've mentioned it. ^^; I definitely like how Jesus sounds and his voice in it. The way he shouted at the end gave me goosebumps!

Good point! But if you consider the background of the stories that he's telling us through the music, it makes sense to have bits of English in it, I guess. Moon is supposed to be from Europe, right? And from what I see in Rebirth, I believe it also has a strong European influence. The reason why I don't mind his using English words is because they usually make sense. XD It also connects well to the song itself and the meaning. It's not just random English words added in, which you often see in other Japanese songs and which is actually the current trend. Returner doesn't make much sense tho. XD;

And maybe it's because I'm an English speaker, for me "Farewell" for example has more impact than, I don't know, "Sayonara" perhaps. XD Which is already a title anyway.

Hehehe, I can't wait to see the movie/ mini clip from the concert either! The one from Rebirth was interesting tho it made me go o__O. XD Another reason why I don't like it as much as the others is probably because I don't really dig the military stuff. XD I will take dreadlocks and curls over that any time.

I guess it's true, but his music doesn't seem to have a lot of European influence. I generally find European bands a bit less shallow and boring that American ones. I'm just really afraid he's turning into every other Jrock band where it's just similar to American rock (Green Day, Sum 41, etc). Although I like their music, I don't like people(especially foreign) that try to copy it. I mean if you grew up in that kind of influence, then it's normal but to imitate it annoys me.

Generally I just don't like the whole trend of using English much, not sure how it got so popular. I guess the Japanese/Korean/Chinese admire the English speaking world a lot and they just like to use it but I don't really think it's effective. Although once in a while it sounds ok but now Gackt is using it a LOT, it's starting to bother me.

I kind of agree with you, I'm not too much into the military stuff either but I like the craziness. I'm very strange in that whenever people act all crazy, I love it.
I'm one of those that hated the dreadlocks, I liked the R&R hair. I didn't fancy his uniform either but I liked in the R&R I concert where in the end he wore a simple dress shirt with a tie and pants. HATED the boots though, it got on my nerves.

No, when I said European influence, I meant for telling the story, not his music. Hmm, I don't listen to other Jrock bands so I don't really know how it is with them, but I don't think American bands are considered major here. At least I don't hear it very often. But yeah, I don't like imitators either. ^^;

Speaking English is a symbol of "coolness" and I think that's main reason why it has become so popular. *sighs* I hate hearing English in Japanese songs because 1) they are usually gibberish 2)contain major grammatical errors 3) the singers themselves can't pronounce the words! XD

As for Gackt using them... I notice that he uses them as background of sorts (don't know the technical term for that) or just one words like Ash, Redemption, Black Stone, etc. Compared with other artists, his is still considered English-free in my opinion.

You know, I don't even remember what he wore during the R&R concert. o_O Except for that military uniform and the pants for U+K. Hahaha, I do know what you mean with the boots. XDD
