Why is it that people are SOOO ignorant?! Instead of asking questions, they assume, they listen to rumors, they are rude, and selfish... and it's just so aggravating. I have noticed that since I've decided to study, and as I tell people about it, or they ask about why I'm reading a WatchTower or an Awake, they seem to turn their backs to me, afraid

It took me a long time to really belive that Satan was influencing things. But I do. You see how nice the Jehovah's Witnesses are, right? I think they're the most mis-understood and reviled group of people on Earth. It's blatantly obvious from this perspective that there are evil spirits manipulating things. All you have to do is a web search for Jehovah's Witnesses and you see the bitter, hateful, slanderous, decietful things the world is being fed about our group, the one hope for salvation.
In answer to your question, people think that ignorance is bliss... that if they ignore the big questions, life will be easier. I used to be one of those people. But life isn't easier, there comes a time when you need to learn about a future beyond this futile life, when you look around and really appreciate that there is a loving creator. Those people need the 'good news' and soon, you and I will have the opportunity to share it. Yes, there will always be ignorant people, but as you may know from personal experience, there are some who are praying for the truth.
You're not alone. I'm not exactly in the same situation, but Satan attacks each of us in a way he hopes will be successful. In my case, he continues to plant doubts in my head. Just when I think I'm totalling convinced that this is the only way to worship God and perhaps receive his wonderful gift of eternal life, another doubt springs up. Satan also makes is seem like abandoning our studies will make life easier, and we have to remember that it won't. Life without hope is no life at all. If we just look around at those who seem to be happy, their lives are filled with the neverending search for material things - "lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God" - and you can be sure there are times when they see how empty their lives really are.
Be strong, don't give up. As the song says:
don't give up
'cause you have friends
don't give up
you're not the only one
don't give up
no reason to be ashamed
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up now
we're proud of who you are
don't give up
you know it's never been easy
don't give up
'cause I believe there's a place
there's a place where we belong
Also, please read Psalm 37, it's my favorite in times like these. I sincerely hope this helps, and that I didn't get too preachy :)
Your friend,
Brendan.
