I wanted to honk, I really did. I like to appear smarter than I really am. That's why I have more unread books than read books on my shelves. I saw the phrase in my title on a bumper sticker this afternoon. I didn't honk, I had no idea what it was. But I couldn't wait to get home and look up on wiki what exactly Punctuated Equilibrium was.

It's a theory of evolution, that postulates change does not happen gradually over a long period of time, but rather quickly in a sporadic fashion.
