Dating within/without the Church greensub64 September 1 2004, 17:26:59 UTC
Ohkay... You have made some amazing points here April, and yes all of us have been where you are. All of us think that "he" will change for us, that maybe God will call him. Afterall though, God calls, not us. The little beatle inside of me screams "If only I ran the world, I would be dating Hugh Jackman!" Not possible.

Let's take a step back though, yes there are wonderful guys in the church, and not so wonderful guys in the church... this has been established. What about people like me who have absolutely no one within decent driving distance... my only option for dates are people out of the church and even the faith. But as you say I have seen some shinging examples in my four years at college. I believe fully that you can have a fulfilling and wonderful relationship without the same spirtual basis as long as the other person respects your beliefs. But then I have to two shining examples set before me. My brother married a catholic... she's absolutely fantastic! Goes to the feast with us... understands and respects our beliefs yet still remains strong in her own. They have a wonderfully happy marriage... second marriage for him. His first on the other hand was to a woman who as in the church and obviously that ended in divorce. Very interesting the difference. My second example is my sister who chose to wait for God to send her someone of the same faith... He did. Her husband was three hours away... but they met through a mutal friend... both had been waiting for God to send them someone.

So you see I believe that it is always on a person-to-person basis. While it is great to keep your options open... let's face it matches like my brother and sisters are few and far between. I choose to keep my options open because I feel that compatiblity are just as important as like faith. God leave some of the problems for us to solve afterall.

This was such a great topic and you approached it so well. Just keep your head up and keep doing what you are doing... God will take care of you.
Beatle.
