isotopeblue... thought of you while eating chocolates. It actually happens quite often!
I am sure you have seen gourmet chocolates with ingredients like saffron, cardamom, or lime. I always thought that jalapeno and chocolate sounded really odd. Today, after I made some homemade salsa with jalapeno peppers in it, I decided to eat a chocolate covered cookie. I must have had some jalapeno oil on my fingers and it soaked into the chocolate... It was delightful! I absolutely loved the way it added just a hint of spice and made my lips and tongue burn a little, without changing the real flavor of the chocolates in a sour way.
I KNOW that I will add jalapeno to my list of flavors for my holiday truffles. I usually just make plain, almond and cinnamon. I already plan to make Saffron chocolates too... Oooh - I can't wait to taste them all! :)
