#1 in our I's

So, the pep rally was SOOOOO AWESOME.

I was playing at it so I got to be on the field the whole time... so so much fun. Seeing 20,000 people clad in orange doing the war chant clap above their heads completely in unison is really, really amazing. And the cheering was RIDICULOUS. The kind of love and loyalty the school has for this team is so amazing. It really is like one big happy family, all because these however many guys can play one hell of a game of basketball. I felt so priveledged to be right there on the field welcoming them as they got off the bus from St. Louis.

Other awesome things:
  • James Augustine turning around from his seat a few feet in front of the band bleachers and talking to us cuz none of us could understand what the speakers were saying
  • Regis taking a picture of Augustine's ass
  • Seeing Augustine putting his arm on Dee Brown's back and playing with his braids (lol)
  • Being on the Jumbotron the entire time cuz I was right behind the speakers, then finding out I was consequently also on TV the whole time (I was also on TV periodically from 5:30-7 am (yes, live) on Monday if anyone happened to be watching CBS 2 morning news in Chicago...)
  • Enough standing ovations to rival the State of the Union Address
  • Chanting "One more year!" to Dee and Deron
  • Boo-ing Rod Blagojevich, then chanting "Save the Chief!"
  • Forcing Rod Blagojevich to watch the Cheif perform, and watching the expression on his face as he saw the crowd's reaction
  • Playing Loyalty, Oskee, and War Chant a bazillion times and actually not getting sick of them
  • Seeing the trophies and cut nets up close
  • The huge smiles on the teams' faces (I sure hope we cheered them up)

And last but certainly not least...
  • Dee Brown signing my basketball band rugby.

Anyhow, it was really really really fun. And now I'm going to bed even though I'm not tired at all, cuz I have an evil 314 listening test tomorrow. Goodnight!
