Today I went to a liberal Christian church with Justin. First time I've been to church of my own volition in about 8 years. It was cool. Much more relaxed than any Christian church I've ever been to. They openly accept gay people in their congregation, and before Prop.8 passed, they performed marriages for gay people too. Reason I bring this up is because one of the big problems I have with most Christian establishments is their intolerance for homosexuality.
I don't know whether I can fully embrace Christianity or not, but honestly, we need to have SOME kind of fellowship somewhere. We need to get out of the house, have SOME kind of routine, and be around other adults. I chose this particular church because it seems to emphasize the good parts of the Bible, you know, the tenets of love, compassion, and being a good person. Those beliefs tend to have taken a back seat to hating gays and having hangups about sex in general (while being completely tolerant and even supportive of violence) in the right-wing conservative media. There is a huge difference between being Christ-like and Christian these days. I don't mind striving to be more Christlike.
