As far as I can tell, this isn't a matter of "predator hunting", because there's no indication of legal action. This has more the feel of someone taking it upon themselves to keep the internet safe for our poor, innocent children, who, of course, have no idea how to circumvent their parents' restrictions. Not to mention the fact that a crusade to clean up the internet and make it safe is impossible, plain and simple.
I heard once, concerning freedom of speech, that it's easy to be patriotic and promote free speech when someone agrees with you. True patriotism, however, is acknowledging the right of someone to say something you don't agree with or want to hear. No one is forcing you to listen. And hasn't that been the atmosphere of LJ until now? If a fic warns against something that makes you squick, you avoid it. It's that simple.
