The past couple of days have been full of highs and lows. Thursday night was the International Party at Alma, where I spent the first couple of hours working at the coat room. Afterwards you could find me on the dance floor cutting a rug until two in the morning. There I met some international students from Greece, Scotland, Hungary... I saw Simon, the creepy Belgian who wrote me an email, while I was working at the coat room, and thankfully he did not recognize me. Unfortunately a girl later introduced me to him and he commented, "oh so you do go out?" I replied "yes" and walked off. Steve, my psychology buddy, walked me home in the rain and helped me open the gate, which is extremely difficult to open. To open it requires a sort of dance: turn, pull, push... - a dance I have not yet mastered.
The next night there was another International Party at the Wink and Ambiorioux (sp?). I went with a group (including Maggie and her friends visiting from London- Loyola students as well). At Ambi I met some Spanish students, but went home around two again (early here) and found myself in the TV room watching Twelve Monkeys alone.
I had a lot of fun Thursday, a reasonable amount of fun on Friday, but Saturday was another story... It was not one of my best days. I woke up around 12 and prepared myself to go do laundry at the local laundrymat. So I piled all of my laundry in to my backpack and set out on Big Red. While crossing an intersection, my wallet began wiggling out of my pocket. I tried to grab it while steering the bike with one hand. Unfortunately I could not swerve in time to avoid the people standing at the street corner, and I crashed into an old lady. To avoid knocking her over I tipped my bike over into the road, where if god had permitted I could have been run over by a car. The lady said she was alright but I was so embarassed at that point that I nearly started to cry. All that I could think was "I want to be home, I don't want to be in a foreign country any more!"
I need to write emails to people soon... I havent heard from Jess yet and I hope she is alright.
