So yesterday while browsing DA I found
this line art and thought "hey why not color it! I probably won't make the deadline for the contest but at least it'll be good practice"
....In all honesty didn't think I'd really work on this until I finished up another piece, but it's just such nice large and clean lineart I couldn't resist!
I think this is a really good capture to see how I work a piece.
1. break everything down to basic layers and fill those layers with a flat color. (6 basic layers here)
2. quickly add basic highlights for possible light sources (left ogre and knight)
3. get to work! (right ogre is pretty much done with main body and far right one is just starting to be worked on)
My color theory can always use work, but basically I'm trying to keep the ogres in angry reds and earthen red/browns/oranges...while the night will be cool heroic blues/silvers/possible gold.
Feel free to leave any feedback
I'm using painter as my primary program on this...oil pastels for the ogres and airbrushing will be used for the knight.
