You just want to slap the idiots! Seriously!
There need to be professional Idiot Slappers...you could call them and say "I need a slapper in Better Sportsware" or whatever!
WHERE does this come from?
One of my coworkers gave me an arabic cd to play, along with a shakira cd...we needed lively music. You would be surprised how many people were like "this is arabic music?" and enjoyed it! The 2 people I gave makeovers to were dancing! (and one was from Corporate!) Admittedly it was very loud...I will say that here and now, but it still does not excuse that customers complaint!
The complaint, as told to me by the manager...."Could you turn that down, we've just had a complaint about it," and here I'm thinking it's just the loudness...but wait! Manager, "This customer in better was upset that your playing arabic music. That your were playing if for quite awhile and what other music do you play? Then she asked me if I knew that we are at war, and the music is bringing up bad feelings for her." If you're rolling your eyes here don't worry so was the manager and myself, the best part was that she, the manager, told the client that yes the music was loud and she would ask us to turn it down, and how we play a wide variety of music and she was not going to ask us to change it, because America is about diversity!
*huggles* Love that manager!

Yeah, so closeminded people is a little peeve of mine...and by little I mean large.
NO ONE! said anything about Shakira...and she's in Spanish, dances/dresses racey and uses profanity and sexual language in her music.
And by the way, if you listen to a lot of the recent club music you can actually hear quite a bit of middle eastern/arabic influences in it!
I'll have to find some to share, it's really lovely stuff even if you don't understand the words, actually I've had some of it translated for me and it's basically the same things we sing about here...losing lovers, cheaters, and relationships...but there's no profanity or offensive language.
Now I'd best be off to bed, I just needed to rant a little to try and calm myself.
