It’s exactly what I’m looking for - a bit cute, a bit arty, not too small… The only drawback is that it’s kind of remote.
I revisited Norwich this weekend to see if it was as nice as I remembered. I had a great time, mostly thanks to the generosity of Mr and Mrs
livefromnorwich. I couldn’t believe how nice they were - they were on their honeymoon, but took the time to show us around all day Saturday, pointing out all the nice parts (and vaguely rough areas) of the town. They invited us to their bee-yoo-tiful house, gave us tips on how buying a place in Norwich could be affordable, and gave us biscuits.
To see a few things I liked about the town, have a look
here...
Also, I thought a lot of the street names were amusing:
Rampant Horse Street
Labour in Vain Yard
Gas Hill
Upper / Lower Goat Lane
Unthank Road
Golden Dog Lane
In the evening we went to see ‘This is England’ in the cute Norwich Playhouse. I thought it was a really good film, and I was prepared to be depressed. But it didn’t dampen my enthusiasm for Norwich!
*(Sorry
Charleston. We did check out Exeter - thank you very much for the recommendation - but it just didn’t ‘click’. I really wanted to like it, because of its location, so close to Cornwall, Bristol, etc. There were a lot of things I did like about it: there were some beautiful old buildings and medieval bits ‘n pieces, and you can see rolling green countryside hills from any point in the city, but I just wasn’t keen on the high street.)
