This is my version of the 14 mile walk on Saturday. There were photos of me, but I left them out, because they're unflattering. Everybody else looked great, though. Fresh faced.
I usually think Autumn is a depressing time, but everyone was nice and it was sunny and not too cold. The sun was yellow, the sky was blue, the grass was green, and the mud was brown. It was pretty darn perfect.
I've walked more than 14 miles before, when I walked through the Sahara in November 2001, but it's been a while. I found the walking fairly comfortable, and I was proud of myself for keeping up, but I could barely stand up when I got home. My legs were shaking. Let me tell you, it's an unusual feeling. But I look forward to experiencing it again.
