Anyone who's a member of OWLBLOT please to be giving me YOUR opinions on this. I don't really see what the big problem is, especially on owlblot since the stream of incoming fic/art/ect was good quality, interesting and relevant. Really - I ( Read more... )

Regardless of why it was done, I still think that prohibiting posting indefinitely only to ask people (and that was the original message the people got) what they think about the community or whatever is completely unnecessary. People who start communities are expected to run them fairly and reasonably despite the fact they lord over everyone.

I understand that the more popular you get, the harder it is to maintain order but there is no reason why the entire community would have to pay for the actiosn of few. That's not how things are run. So it is easy to understand why the rest of us are WTFing over this and calling the moding decisions questionable and, in my honest opinion, downright immature.
And I don't think not knowing the whole drama/story means I don't get to pass judgmenet. I can only go on whatever I have. It just means you failed to communicate with the members and chose to just shut it down instead, for whatever time period because...well, you CAN.

I was more of a watcher and liked owlblot because I thought it mostly had good quality posts and fanart. Have you seen the shit we get at other shipping communities? TDK ones? But the entire communities don't come to a screeching halt.

You think that throwing a tantrum and pausing all 3 communities will get people to take notice? Nah, they'll just break off into groups and start their own communities like they already have. There's no shortage. And you may not care about that, like you have said, but it does and will affect the rest of the community as now you don't have one concentrated area and members are all over the place.

Smooth-running communities are not the way they are because of scare tactics. Nobody likes those. You'll create more animosity and only achieve the opposite of what you want. Nobody likes being talked down to. My playground, my rules may be true to an extent, but not whan you flash it in the member's face like you have done here.

This isn't me telling you to change your ways (I highly doubt you will), rather trying to explain where the people who don't agree with the decisions you've made are coming from.

My two cents.
