Anyone who's a member of OWLBLOT please to be giving me YOUR opinions on this. I don't really see what the big problem is, especially on owlblot since the stream of incoming fic/art/ect was good quality, interesting and relevant. Really - I ( Read more... )

Ha, I did the same thing.

Only thing I can think of is that I remember someone on watchmen_slash mentioning owlblot not accepting her posts. When they DID accept one she was confronted about it in the comments. So yeah, probably personal wank finally coming to the forefront.

so...let me get this straight:

someone is butthurt about not being accepted and then goes and posts about it, and then the mod is butthurt about people complaining about her modding, and so closes down not one, but three communities?

man there are a lot of sore asses up in here.

Yeah, the mod did an edit of her original message, in which she scolds the people who don't "get" the point of her post. I don't see why she can't just come right up and say "OK, it has come to my attention that people are having problems with the site, blah blah blah", instead of making a half-cryptic post about certain people "being heard".

It's great that we have "lj user="owlblot"> and great that the mod created it for us but I just wish personal wank wouldn't get in the way of the community!

I know, I just read that, and I have to say, it was a passive-aggressive, condescending, pretentious load of....

owl pellets. :)

It is a little silly that you can't just make a modpost without having to stop posting in three communities for it.

Wow - that's one huge over-simplification.

I have no idea what's going on, so I'm just speculating.

hey, that's just how I talk. I don't know the whole story, but that's just how it reads to me.

It's your community, obviously, and it's your right to do whatever you want with it, including stopping posting/closing it down/whatever. I enjoy the community, I don't have a problem with how it's run, but when something like that comes out of the blue you have to expect people are going to be surprised about it/have something to say about it. you have a right to do whatever you want, I have a right to react to it. if you really think you're doing the right thing, then it shouldn't offend you whatever I think, judgment or not.

Well, how I wrote the post - that's how I talk. I'm sorry if that comes off sounding pretentious, because despite popular belief, that is not my intention ( ... )

thank you for taking the time to explain, I really do appreciate it. :] You have to understand the general reaction when it happened (of those of us not 'in the know') is basically, "WTF?" And then trying to find out the reason for it. Even no drama creates drama; we find our own meaning from what little we have to go on. (Given, the public drama is juicier and more fun.)

It was confusing to a lot of people since the community has such an active userbase and generally high-caliber submissions, overall.

It also seemed silly to me since there is such a large userbase, and the complaints of a few shouldn't really be anything to worry about, in comparison to the contentment of many. Like...it just didn't seem like a big deal to me, you know? Let the haters say what they want, you know it's an awesome community and you work to keep it that way.

anyway, no hard feelings, I love owlblot and I love quality as much as anybody else, and I just want it to return soon.

Um, no. I don't think all of that counts as "speculation" (at least not the definition of the word I know). You seem pretty sure to me ( ... )
