Didn't do much today. Got some cleaning done, and I know my leg will hurt tomorrow. That shower is impossible to clean from outside of it, I'm gonna be in paaaaaiiin tomorrow I know it! I cleaned up some more stuff and made dinner, read, and we watched "Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed." Cute, I wuv my Scooby!!
So I got a book on the history of magic, numerology, and the idiots guide to witches so I can do some research for my book. I want my character to sound like she knows what she's talking about, so I picked some up from the library. I read a whole section in this magic history book about Christianity and Magic and I wrote a bit about it in Katie's journal, so I'm gonna repost it here so I don't have to retype it:
I'm doing some research and last night I read a whole section on Christianity and Magic and it seems that way way way way back magic and christianity were almost in the same. Basically times changed, people came around, said it was bad. It also said that witches were basically called witches because women back then were healers. They would take herbs and make them into medicine for their sick families and men were afraid that they could take herbs and make things poisonous to kill people, also denouncing manhood and in turn giving power to women...so in turn came the term witches. It was all really interesting. Especially how it kept referencing that Christian people are scared of magic, but they think God and Jesus used magic to create, heal, whatever, it's just because it's done by a holy person that it's ok. If you practice "magic" and you're not holy, then you speak to demons and whatever, when in fact, there are just as crazy of people who do magic as there are religious people who claim they're the messiah and form cults because God wanted them to do his work or whatever. Basically magical people and religious people have their weirdos, but not all - in fact most people aren't bad! It's a really interesting book, I really enjoyed it, even though I was just looking for a couple sentences of research. And it had a ton of like documented cases of people and instances since like Mesopotamian civilizations and stuff. And it's a new book and talks about Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter in referencing.
Anyways, I'm always interested in history, so it was really cool to read and it answered a lot of my questions about religion vs. magic.
I started writing another chapter in my book, but decided my words weren't forming properly today, so put it down. I'm in no hurry, I still have a bit of research to do anyways. I got three books and I've only read through one lol.
No news on employment - how'd you guess lol?!?
And I think that's about it.
Hope this finds everyone well - J - hang in there honey!
BTW, dunno if I said this before but "Rescue Me" is the best show ever. I fuckin' love that show so much. It'll make you laugh your ass off, cry, giggle, everything, it's sooo awesome. I also love how Dennis Leary calls everyone "ass hole" - makes me crack up lol.
Nite.
