Flight's booked!

I'll be flying to Portland, Oregon on Friday, August 29th for Kumoricon. W00t!

I can't wait to meet the group of cosplayers I'll be going with and I CAN'T WAIT to see Phil and Kaja again!

In other news, I'm finally getting stuff with work and health straightened out. I've spoken with the people at Human Resources about the FMLA form (keeps cast members with health conditions from getting points for calling in sick or leaving work early) and all I need to do now is get the form filled out by my doctor (which she already said she'd do) and then turn it back in. Once this gets done I'll also be able to get some of my points taken off because a lot of them were acrued when I called in sick or went home from asthma attacks.

Oh yeah, I was finally officially diagnosed. I have asthma. At least it's not antitrypsin deficiency (a type of deadly, genetic emphysema that runs in my family) like I thought it was.

But now I'll be on inhalers the rest of my life, most likely. I take Qvar twice a day which helps keep me from getting attacks and Proair as needed to help stop an attack when I'm having one. Before I started the Qvar I was using my Proair inhaler once or twice a day, at least. My doctor was very surprised and told me that was NOT good. She said I should only be using it twice a week at the very most. She said that was our goal and she put on me on Qvar. As soon as I started taking that stuff I only have to use my Proair inhaler maybe once every week or two, if that! That's how she knew that I had asthma. She said that if it had been something else, the Qvar wouldn't have done a darned thing.

So yay for finally knowing what's been giving me breathing problems for so long (the past 3 or 4 years now) but boo for my dorky inhalers, lol. Oh and then there's the cost. Each inhaler is about $30 a pop, even with my insurance. Because I have to take the Qvar regularly that one needs to be refilled every month. The Proair is only as needed so now that I hardly use it at all I'll probably only have to get that one refilled once every few months. So ew, more expenses.

I just gotta keep telling myself that it could be a lot worse. At least I'm not paying hospital bills and having surgeries and crap.

And YAY! I get to go to Kumoricon at the end of the month! *dances*

Okay, sleepy time. I don't have to work tomorrow until 3 in the afternoon but it's late and I'm tired. 'Night!

asthma, kumoricon, work
