What a great day yesterday and today have been. First of all, my lovely Annie came out from Calvin to go to the BNL concert with me (more on that later). Anyway, she came out early so that we could go to the Extreme Makeover house in Oak Park to welcome the family back b/c they wanted the deaf community there. My mom is part of the deaf community. YYYYYUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! I didn't get his autograph, but I was definitely within inches of Ty. His phone rang right as he was going to sign my paper, so he had to go. I would have gotten it had these little girls (Who I GAVE PAPER TO!!!) didn't push me out of the way. He's kind of old looking up close. However, I did get Barry Watson's autograph b/c his fiance is on the design team. It was really funny though, Annie was dying. The little girls that I gave paper to, they were standing by us (after pushing their way in- surprise surprise), I was telling them all of this random stuff. One time, someone had grabbed paper towel to go wipe something inside, and I go "Looks like something spilled" and one of the girls goes "What spilled?". So in a completely deadpan face, I go "Blood..........no, just kidding, it was vomit." lol they totally believed me. Then, later, I said something about Praise the Lord or something and they raised their hands like "Halleluiah!". Later, I wasn't paying attention, but I was discussing with Annie how many future husbands I have (you know, crushes that will never become anything) and how I'm going to marry them all by divorcing one marrying another older one, waiting for him to die, yadda yadda yadda. They looked at me like i was crazy, I think that's when I said my only husband was Jesus and they raised their hands. lol. One kept poking me, I yelled at her after a while and she looked scared. Oh dear.....it's counseling all over again.
Now, onto the concert. IT WAS SO AMAZING!! Alanis was really great, I'm really glad I got to see her, too. I hadn't heard a lot of her new stuff, but she had a really good blend of old and new. It was fun to sing along w/ Head Over Heels and You Oughta Know. She did Ironic, too. There was this middle age man next to me who kept talking to me, he won tickets from 96.3 and when I would stop singing he'd go "Why'd you stop? It sounds great!! I love it!". yeah, how about you pound back another few more beers, and leave me alone now. Thanks. He wasn't that bad, he just kept getting in my personal space. And of course, when we were looking for the car after, he drove by and shouted out the window "Don't tell me you're lost!" Oh ho ho, don't tell me you're stalking me, sir!
Anyway, the best part, Barenaked Ladies. They were beyond words, awesome, lots of improv, lots of fun movement. Steve took his pants off at one moment. They did a syncronized dance with shopping carts to "Shopping" and they made snow angels on stage w/ styrofoam. It was so amazing. Alanis came out and sang with them for Call and Answer (it was great- they also came out and sang Live and Learn w/ her). They ended the show w/ Million Dollars and I was beyond myself. I think I want that to be my wedding song, lol. Maybe not, but it'll be at the reception. I stood up the entire time for them and sang along to everything. I was so happy, and it was so great that Annie got to come and experience it w/ me. I wish I was going back tonight, so badly!! I swear, someday, I will be in the front section at one of their shows. So great...... I love them, that's all.
