INTRO POST

HI EVERYONE :D

So I recently kinda figured out I don't have an introduction post? So here's my life's story if you are so inclined to read it and you're like, "who the hell is this bitch?"!

Okay, hi. :) I'm Katie. I was born on September 2, 1988 in Washington DC. My mom and dad met in grad school and are still married today. I'm really close to my parents and I love them SO much. My mom is 11 years older than my dad. My mom is a homemaker and my dad is a Psych Professor at a major Maryland university that has an unusual turtle-y mascot (you figure it out ;D)

I lived my entire life in Maryland (except for a few months of living in Ohio while my dad was on sabbatical). Even though I was nearer to my mom's family and my cousins (shouvley and her sister ♥) I HATED it. I have a memory of my first grade teacher dumping my desk out in front of everyone and telling me to clean it. I was all embarrassed! We left after that school year.

I was unpopular growing up but I made friends. I had a happy childhood. :) I was diagnosed in elementary school with executive functioning disorder, which is a learning disorder. The doctor who diagnosed me said that if my brain was a file cabinet, all of the papers would be thrown around willy nilly inside. I diagnosed myself with dyscalculia as well. I should get tested for that. :\

I went to an all-girls high school in Baltimore which was a BIG change from public school education I received in my old hometown. My parents sent me there in order to help me with my learning disability since the high school had a program to cater to students with learning disabilities. However, I didn't learn much there- most of the program had dyslexics and thus it was catered mostly to them. I remember a lot of lessons about how to properly bubble in scantron tests. Truth be told, I really didn't like it there. I HATED all of my friends I hung out with during the day and lived for after-school theater.

Theater seriously was what made me stay in that high school. I was incredibly shy before then, but my mom kind of pushed me into theater, knowing I'd help branch out. It woke me up, you know? I was nervous at first about singing in front of everyone but I started living for it. I performed as often as I could in theater productions- but since I never had the best grades, staying eligible was always a struggle. I performed in Cinderella, Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof (Golde!), Wizard of Oz (Glinda) and I understudied every role in Little Women (never went on though lol).

I went in to Frostburg State University intent on studying theater. I was SO happy... however I was totally over confident in my ability as an actor. I went in thinking I was the best actress in the school and BOY did I fall hard. After being reprimanded for not caring enough by the head of the department, I kind of went on a BSOD and started failing all of my classes, or just stopped showing up all together. I dropped out before I got kicked out.

I started working for a while at a bank as a receptionist. I loved it and I got to focus for a while on the stuff that mattered- like the chance to get an education is important, etc. After that I went to community college and got an Associate's Degree.

I graduated from Frostburg with a Bachelor's degree in History with a Minor in theater in December 2014, graduating as a member of the History honors fraternity Phi Alpha Theta (Iota Iota) and with a 3.0, miles away from what I thought I would be doing when I entered into college, but college is about self discovery.

I'm 27 now and I am currently in Grad school in Frostburg to become a secondary Social Studies teacher. I just finished my high school rotation and I loved every second of it- though it was really, really stressful. I start my middle school rotation in January 2016 and then in May I graduate with a teaching certificate. I knew I wanted to teach high school, and this rotation I just left definitely cemented it.

Anyway, that's my life. It's not spectacularly drama filled but it's mine~

My dog's name is Samwise Gamgee (Sam, really), and I also have a cat named Liv Tyler. I've been dating my boyfriend Glen since August 2010.

Fandoms: Harry Potter (R/Hr, H/G, Tonks/Lupin a little), Marvel (Steve Rogers is literally the most attractive man I've ever seen in my life- Cap/myself), Pirates of the Caribbean (Norrington/myself), OUAT (Rumbelle, but I am really behind), Hunger Games (Peeta/Katniss), I also really love Pemberley Digital and Austen, I ship all of the ships there but my favorite men in Jane Austen are Henry Tilney and Captain Wentworth.

I'm kidding when I say I ship Norrington and Steve with myself, by the way (but I wish I wasn't cause that would be awesome and the best threesome ever).
