My first translation~ :D
So I finally got around to post it on LJ. It's Tama-chan's interview from Cinema Square vol. 25. Some parts of the text were trickier than others but I'm satisfied with the result. If I wasn't I wouldn't be posting it here and at the community after all. :P Gokusen The Movie will be released on DVD and Blu-ray the 20th this month so I decided to do some promotion. ^^
We made it through simply because we were together and had fun
Q1 What does “Gokusen” mean to you?
An important job I made it through thanks to the people around me even though I felt insecure.
Q2 What does “bond” (kizuna) mean to you?
Something I must have with me… sort of. Yeah, something like that.
This is the first time you appear in a drama and a movie. How did you spend your time on the set?
Tamamori: It was never calm, everyday was hard work. If things got difficult or I didn’t understand what was going on, I would observe the staff and the cast, ask the members of the fourth generation’s 3D different things, and somehow the day would end peacefully. However, at the time when we were recording my fist appearance in the special drama, I was feeling miserable because I thought I couldn't do anything, that I would be forced to go home against my will and so on. Comparing with that I think I've made some progress.
Which scene left a particular impression on you?
Tamamori: The scene when Takasugi is facing all those motorbikes. I got really absorbed when I had to fight while acting.
It’s a movie with a lot of appealing scenes.
Tamamori: It’s okay if we take the photos here. I did my best using my fighting spirit!
(Note: Umm, I guess he and the interviewer and photographer were walking around during the interview trying to find a good place to take the photos? But this is so like Tama-chan! Short attention span. XD)
There are also scenes when you’re simply talking to your classmates about ordinary things.
Tamamori: I’m almost always acting like myself in those scenes so it’s easy for me to relax. (laughs) But when we were shooting serious scenes I would often think ”How should I act?”. If there were things I've been thinking about but still not quite grasped, every day before the filming we would get together and think about it, then go filming, then finish for the day. And then it would repeat like that. Right now when looking back, it was like that.
Do you have any fun memories from the filming?
Tamamori: Is it okay if I say something cool? (laughs) I love everybody from the fourth generation’s 3D, so basically just being together was fun. (Voices of “Oh~!” can be heard from the surrounding members of fourth generation’s 3D) No really! I think it’s because of these guys filming became fun. Everybody would joke around on the set of cheerful scenes and such. Sometimes we would argue over trifles, but it was really an interesting experience.
Takasugi and I are completely different, but we both treasure our friends
From the drama to the movie, has Takasugi grown?
Tamamori: The Takasugi from the drama was always alone, but in the end he became close with the class. It’s from that point the movie starts and through various scenes Takasugi’s friendship grows stronger and deeper.
When you became used to being on the set, how did things flow?
Tamamori: I’m different from Takasugi. Like, the way I was able to immediately make friends with everybody is completely different. (laughs) Because Takasugi is the type of guy who doesn’t even change is facial expression very often it was difficult to continuously keep a cool face, because I’m the type of person who unintentionally has to change their facial expression.
Are there any other outward appearances aside from the facial expressions you’ve created?
Tamamori: Because I wasn’t a delinquent (laughs) I didn’t know what to do in the beginning, but once I started looking like one I started figuring it out. After that I thought it was best to do something as different as possible from the previous actors, so I tried on the baggy pants.
So~, when it comes to the inside and the outside, you and Takasugi are exactly the opposite?
Tamamori: Yeah, we’re totally different. However, whenever my tension isn’t high we might be similar. Then Takasugi never shuts up, but he really treasures his friends, doesn’t he? On that point we might be the same. For me, friends are absolutely the most important thing.
Don’t stop with that.
Tamamori: I won’t! (laughs)
