Pete leaves USC today and he held a long press conference today which felt very heartfelt. I do not fault him for leaving. I thank him for what has been an incredible time for Trojan football! He has opened the program to anyone who wanted to come in and see what this college football monster is all about. He was always available to sign an autograph, take a picture or shake a hand, although he will not autograph your baby. One of my favorite memories of him would be the day I attended Rose bowl practice and he came over and used my pen to sign numerous autographs. As Steve asked me if I was going to stick around I said I have to Coach has my pen. Coach smiled and then some woman asked him to sign her baby as a joke and he looked at her and said no, as he spent his whole break signing autographs and as he said all right guys I have to get back to practice he handed me my pen and looked at the woman and said "And I still won't sign your baby!" We all laughed.
He's brought Trojan football back to glory and I hope he finds the competition he is always searching for in Seattle. Fight on Coach, us USC Alums love you and you will be missed but you will always be a Trojan and we can't wait to induct you into the USC Hall of Fame!
