Day 5
I was still just getting used to the office. Sitting in my corner with my dual screens and pretty colored folders. So far I hadn't learned much that I didn't already know but I'm sure as the days pick up I will need to start studying on my own time. After work, Laura, Rudy, and I took the bus to get a rental car to go to our apt and sign the lease. We checked out the new apt and it was gorgeous. Very spacious, newly renovated, new fixtures (actually the same as the ones in the Regents apt in La Jolla!), and all the furniture had been moved in. After inspecting the apt, we signed the lease and then went to grab dinner. We went to Five Guys. It's suppose to be the East Coast equivalent to In-n-Out. The burger was pretty good and they had more topic choices than In-N-Out but it didn't seem that special and I still like the burger from In-n-Out better. The fries were cut like normal but the Cajun ones were pretty good. A spicier version of the Red Robins fry dust. It was cute, they had a sign saying their potatoes come from a specific family farm that day in Idaho. I always like knowing where my food is coming from! Even though the Cajun fries were good, I still like In-n-Out fries better since they're less greasy and nice and thin. Yum! So In-n-Out wins! :D After dinner we spent the rest of the night moving things into the new apt and went on a late night Target run to pick up necessities. We are now finally all moved in!

Day 6
Slowly getting into the rhythm of things at the office. Felt kinda bad since I nearly fell asleep during one of my meetings but I survived. After work, Justin came to pick me up and we got dinner in Silver Spring. It was nice catching up and seeing his car! Not bad :) After catching up we starting talking about plans for next week since Darin is coming into DC and we're going to have a lot of fun since it's also by bday weekend :D All I know is I'll be looking forward to a birthday celebration! After dinner, I came home and played Settlers with Laura and Rudy while watching Game 5 of the NBA finals. We all love to play Settlers so I can't wait to play more games with them!

Day 7
So today we took the bus from our apt to get to the FDA, it all seemed normal... until we passed our complex and the bus didn't stop so we just got off at the next stop to walk back. Right when we got off the bus a car pulls up behind the bus and the engine is smoking like crazy. We walk as far away from the smoking car as possible and the smoke from the car becomes so think you can't even see oncoming traffic until it passes thru the smoke. Luckily we're near a fire station so they immediately saw and helped the poor woman who got out of the car before the smoke got really bad. No one was injured thank goodness but definitely an interesting way to start the morning! The rest of my day went pretty well. Not many meetings just lots of work analyzing files and writing up notes for my projects. Today I realized that my internship really reminds me of what I did at OPAFS (finance job while at UCSD) but more official since I'm an analyst! Read thru some very interesting proposals later in the day and am very interested in learning more! After full day of work, finally went tot he FDA gym to work out. It felt so good to work out since it's been at least a month since I properly worked out >.< Hopefully this will continue and I will get back into shape! After the gym, Laura, Rudy, and I went to California Tortilla to have dinner. It's like a Chipotle but with more options of meat and a huge selection of hot sauces! The food was okay (Chipotle is still better) but not a bad substitute. After dinner, we hit up Trader Joes and bought groceries for the week! I will be making lots of pasta, rice and salads for the coming week and I'm excited for cooking again :D Once we bought all the groceries we needed, we caught a bus back to our apt and while we were at the bus stop Laura and I noticed a few drops of water would hit us sporadically. We thought we were going crazy but low and behold about 10 mins into the bus ride it begins to POUR and HAIL like crazy for 5 minutes. Luckily by the time we got to our complex, the rain and hail had stopped. So we went inside, put away our food and relaxed at home.

So during my bus rides this week, I have been reading The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell. It has been a very interesting read and I really hope to finish it in the coming weeks during my commute (and at the rate I'm reading, hopefully sometime in the next few weeks). I'm currently in Ch 3 but a quote I really liked from Ch 2 talks about our social networks. "Six degrees of separation doesn't mean that everyone is linked to everyone in just six steps. It means that a very small number of people are linked to everyone else in a few steps, and the rest of us are linked to the world through those special few." It was an interesting point to think about this week as I meet lots of new ppl and will continue to meet and network with these ppl. I want to be one of those special few!!!

So I have decided to post my daily photo log of my internship on FB! I think it's an interesting way to recap my day and really help me remember what to write here in LJ!

Okay time to sleeeeeeeeep.
