reunion weekend recap
Friday night: Aaron's cousin reunion party in Northbrook. Basically, met a bunch of his cousins and sat around eating pizza and listened to them rag on each other. Cool people.
Saturday: Aaron's big family reunion at Harm's Park. Lots of people. But his family is really cool. They had t-shirts by generation for everyone and since there was an extra his cousins insisted that I wear one so that was cool. I took all the group family photos for his uncle since I was the least related, so that was cool. We did a lot of running around and playing frisbee and these Deer kept running across the field; so cool. His grandma kept walking with me away from the group, telling me how good I am for him and how awkward he used to be, it was so cute.
Sunday: My family reunion in Downers Grove/My great-aunt Dorothy's 90th birthday. Also really fun. My dad and Aaron didn't go so it was just me, mom and Maggie, but we got there fast since I drove. My mom's cousin Marilyn's house is really awesome...not all that big but really really fancy-like. Aunt Dorothy was really happy to see everyone, and I saw some cousins and stuff that I haven't seen in ages (not that I remember their names or anything now). My cousin Peter brought his gf Katie, and she's really cool. I was skeptical of her when they first started going out a few months ago, but she's grown on me. My aunt and uncle from Florida and other relatives ended up coming out here to hang out with my mom afterward (because she was too tired to go anywhere else) and Aaron came over to meet them after work, so that was nice.
Yeah, to round it up, it was a good weekend. But now I'm beyond exhausted. I work Monday-Thursday NIGHTS (blech), I'm off Friday for my mom's surgery (= I will be at the hospital in Elgin all day), and then I work Saturday afternoon. The worst part about it is it's crappy hours, and I don't really get a free day all week (I don't count being at the hospital all day as a free day).
So yeah, anyone I haven't seen in a while, give me calls in the mornings if you want to do anything...otherwise apparently I won't be around :P
