Getting in shape does not feel good.

I'm going to start updating this thing more. Sheesh, it's been awhile since I've said anything meaningful. So, heaviest weight ever? Check. However currently "dieting" and exercising? Check. So I'm not too bad off.

As I updated a few weeks ago, Reston Sprint Triathlon. What the heck was I thinking? But it did serve it's purpose to get me off of my ass and into the gym. Last week was the first week on the "horse" (I just signed up for the tri on the 10th!) and it was HARD. I didn't think it would be easy, but I found muscles I didn't even know I had. I feel like this journal is going to turn into my training/weight loss log, and I'm cool with that. :) When I lose about 38 lbs I'll post my starting weight. It'll blow your mind, it certainly blew mine :)

So I had a rough weekend... and being an emotional and stress eater I could have gorged out. But I didn't! Hurrah! I took out some aggression in the gym (even though I was totally smoked after only having 4.5 hours of sleep last night) and made great choices at the grocery store. And my legs are already stiff.... some hardcore stretching will have to be incorporated tonight before bed.

So what did I do today may you ask? I did eat more than I should, but nothing BAD really... just too many points (I do weight watchers) by like ... 12. But it could have always been worse. Those buffalo chicken tenders from Publix or the chicken tenders sub were CALLING my name. But I stayed good :) And the gym.... :)

So I met with a personal trainer last week (yeahhhh free at FSU!) and Siobhan is pretty much awesome. She was fun because we got to joke around as I was going around the floor with her, because unlike most girls at FSU I don't wear shorts that show 99% of my legs and the fusion in which ass meets upper thigh, I knew how to lift, and I really wanted to be there for health reasons, not to look hot in a bikini, which however, eventually would be nice :) So I really need to focus on the running -- because with building up my running stamina, the biking will come -- I gotta get my legs in gear and some weight off first. Since I'm comfy on a bike (and obviously in the water) it's all about the running that SUCKS.

So she told me to run for 3 minutes (5 mph pace -- 12 minute mile pace) and  then walk around a 3mph pace (20 minute mile) for 2 minutes, and to repeat this 6 times for 30 minutes. I was haulin' it, so sweaty and NASTY, and I hate seeing all myself jiggle in the lovely Leach mirrors but I did ok until about minute 20... then the shin pain (scars on my legs + extra weight = shin pain which causes me to have to walk it out) soooooooooo I got 4.5 out of 6 running sets done, and just walked the rest of the way. But I still did 30!!! I'll do this for about 2 weeks until I switch to a 4 min run/1 minute walk. Great.

Then it was lower body time. I should have done upper body so I could run again tomorrow, but instead I'll swim and lift upper body. Life'll be ok. I already know I won't be able to jog tomorrow because my legs were shaky all day (I worked them HARD) and they're really taught right now. All of these following things are in sets of 2 -- so I did each exercise 2 times.

- Squats -- 80 lbs, 12 reps (man I hate squats).
-Lunges (this is the only one that wasn't done twice) -- 20 up, 20 back alternating legs with 10 lbs in my hand. Man my left leg is SO MUCH weaker than my right. The hamstring and inner thigh muscle (adductor or abducter, I never remember) were SCREAMING in agony, until I did the last 6 on my right leg leading only -- I was afraid I'd hurt myself!
-Leg Extensions -- 30 lbs, 12 reps.
-Leg curls -- 40 lbs, 12 reps.
-Calf Raises -- 70 lbs, 12 reps (my legs were NOT having it, on the second set when I got to  rep 10, my legs were SO maxed out -- but I worked through it).
-Ab machine -- 80 lbs, 12 reps.
--Roman Chair Lower back/Hams and Abs -- this thing is at a 45 degree angle and goes up to your hips. You bend yourself over it so you're perpindicular to the floor, and you bring yourself straight up to the 45 degree angle and back down. HOLY CRAP, again, with about 4 left I thought I was going to PERISH. I did 12 reps of these though :)

So yeah. First day of trainers workout was hard, but I don't meet with her again for 4 weeks. So it'll be GOOD. I'm excited. The first thing I thought about today was going to the gym -- so I'm glad I stuck with it. Tomorrow is a nonimpact day since my legs will be protesting.... so I'll swim 1500 meters doing all sorts of drills. And then Tuesday will be upper body and runnin'! I'm doing this! WoOhOo!!!!

Oh, p.s. I took before pictures from front, side and back. And when I lose than 38 lbs, I'll post some comparison pictures, and will do it til I hit my goal weight. It'll be STELLAR! :)
