The hunger games, may the odds be in your favor

So I read a lot of books, And usually I don't do this but I just finished reading the hunger games trilogy. I am like bursting needing to get the feelings these books left me off my chest but no one I know has read them so I am typing this kinda review whatever cause I have to. If you have no interest then do not read, but if you are interested, there is no spoilers.

What these books boil down too is a story of human nature. Its pretty much the story of a war.
It tells the story of a futuristic north america that has been torn apart by wars and natural disasters. The country was broken up into 13 district and a capital. the capital is lead by an evil dictator. When the countries tried to revolt the capital nuked district 13 leaving just 12, and as a punishment and reminder not to revolt again, each year every district is force to give up one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to go to the capital to participate in the hunger games. A game where they are all placed in an outdoor arena and forced to fight to the death, on "national television"
That is pretty much the concept of the first book, It is the most unnerving because the idea of it is terrifying on every end of the spectrum. As one of the 24 kids being forced to either kill or be killed or as their family sitting at home watching them running around these woods waiting to be killed.
Its told through the eyes of a 16 year old girl who has to participate in the games when she takes her 12 year old sisters place.
The books become so much more than that though, It becomes a story of fighting back and wars. It is extremely extremely heavy and realistic (as much as a fantasy book like this can be) because everything is really believable because we don't know what the country is gonna be like in 100 years? It leaves you wondering.
That is what I liked about it though, Suzanne Collins (the brilliant writer) did not sugar coat it at all. I mean people die in wars, Not everyone has a happy ending. Terrible things happen and people do dispicable things and you can not trust most people.
Though she does end it on a note that does leave you smiling. It has as happy an ending as you can when so many terrible things had happened to you. It was still honest. I left me really thinking about human nature, and what I would do if I was in that situation, and to me that is a mark of a great book. If it leaves me still thinking about it after I put it down, and I HAVE, I have even had dreams about it so I think it left an impression. haha

There is a lot more I could say about it but I will stop.
do yourself a favor and read these books
"The hunger games"
