[Why is the hallway video camera on? Don't ask silly questions. But because it's on, it gets to show a fairly calm hallway, considering half of it is broken up. Most of the wall around Aang's door is alright, intact, just crumbling near the top. The door is standing there, and for a while it's quiet.
If one's listening carefully enough, they can hear soft talking, and then a shout of surprise. A loud noise, and a hurt scream. And then, the door blasts out of the wall and it crumbles, a body hitting the wall the communicator's set in. The faded oranges and yellows of the clothes the body obscures the camera, so the feed snaps to Aang's communicator, which is lying on the ground. He's panting, somewhere off camera, but he stumbles over to the comm and picks it up.
If there's anyone watching, they'll be privy to his bloody arm grappling with it, picking it up and attaching it to the front of his own robes. Across from him, the terrifying ghoul that is Monk Gyatso stands out of the rubble, growling.]
I don't want to hurt you!
[But the ghoul isn't really in a talking move, and rushes him. He blasts it with air, sending it back, but it doesn't stop, rushing at him again. The Avatar cries at it again, but it doesn't catch on the video, rushing air overpowering any sort of audio besides. The creature scrambles at him again, and finally he sends two large air-cutters, slicing the ghoul into two pieces.
For a moment, it lies there, twitching and howling, and then it poofs almost comically into dust.
Aang drops to his knees, and the camera shakes slightly with the Avatar, a choked sob caught on the audio. For a few minutes he stays like that, sitting there, shaking and sniffling, but hark! There's another growl. And another. And a third. All of them are different, but startlingly alike. Into the range of the camera comes ten, twenty, thirty different ghouls, all coming out of the cement, around piles and over rocks and from the hallway. At the forefront is a beautiful, long-haired, tan-skinned ghoul, pointing one long, clawed finger at him and screaming.
He stands, shown here by the camera view changing, and his staff goes out in front of him, and he shouts something along the lines of "STAY BACK!" at them, but they don't listen. In fact, they swarm at him.
He fights them as much as he can, slashing at them, but it's obvious he can't bear slicing into them, and he's started just blasting them back. They're fighting forward, just as vicious as before, growling and snarling and screaming at him, and if one cares to listen close enough, they can hear actual words among several of them, especially the monks...
YOU ABANDONED US!
Which is exactly what he's doing now. Aang knows he can't fight them all without getting killed, and he can't risk that - if he gets killed, who says he'll regenerate? He IS the Avatar, after all, he doesn't know if it'll just default his soul and spirit back to the world - so he's running, desperately, towards the edge, and the ghouls are jumping at him, but the camera can't see anything but their claws as they miss--
and then, there's nothing but air. He's jumped, thrown his glider into the air, caught onto it, and is flying desperately away from the ghouls. There's a loud, terrifying, overall SCREAM of rage behind him, but it fades away.
After a few minutes, he lands and rolls to a stop on the zepplin, panting.
After all of this, he pulls the comm off his robes, and his face is streaming with tears.]
Wh- What are those things!? Why are they attacking me? How-- how is this happening? Does this mean they're here? They're dead? What--
[And then he dissolves into sobs.]
