So since Ray has been bugging me so much for an update, I decided I'd write something.
I have been hearing a lot about this "gamer's widow" thing lately, and it got me thinking I might want to post on it based on my own experiences as a "gamer's girlfriend." If you don't know what a "gamer's widow" is, just keep reading and you'll figure it out...
I am a gamer's girlfriend. My calls have been ignored for hours at a time because a new game was released the night before.
I am a gamer's girlfriend. I have gone to bed alone while my boyfriend sits up until 4am with a bunch of other dudes.
I am a gamer's girlfriend. I am sent to fill lengthy food orders off the dollar menu at McDonald's with nickels and dimes fished out from under couch cushions while the next game is loading.
I am a gamer's girlfriend. I have had dates cancelled because he's just "too tired" from staying up for a marathon session of Grand Theft Auto the night before.
I am a gamer's girlfriend. I have been under the impression that I'm having a conversation with my boyfriend when in fact he's just talking on his headset to some guy in Nebraska, planning their next kill in Halo 2.
I am a gamer's girlfriend. I have spent hours standing in the electronics section of Walmart, nodding enthusiastically as I completely tune out explanations of the pros and cons of sporting games versus war games versus role playing games versus...
I am a gamer's girlfriend. I have accepted that no matter how many times we go to Blockbuster to rent movies, we will never come home with one.
And finally...I am a gamer's girlfriend. I have been forced to stand on one side of the room with my legs crossed, waiting for a level to be over so I can cross in front of the TV and use the bathroom.
If you, too, are a gamer's girlfriend, please feel free to add to this list...you know how easy it is :-)
