Aside from all the obvious reasons (ie: they can't work past a certain time thus all of the older people, those of us who actually COULD be going to bars and whatnot, have to work the late shifts)...they don't get any of my witty pop culture references. It reminds me a lot of conversations my WVWC advisor, Dr. Saunders, and I used to have about the biggest threat to the free world not being nukes but the culturally unsound. But I digress...
At one point today I was sweeping the store and along with the usual waffle cone pieces and sprinkles that we usually sweep up, I find a screw in my dirt pile. I make some remark about it not being a good sign to find a screw just lying around like that, and my (16 year old) coworkers kinda look at me funny, so I have to clarify and say that it must have come from SOMEWHERE, and, thus, something may be about to fall apart. Finally, one kid goes, "I didn't realize screws could fall out." Deciding to be a smartass, I reply, "Screws fall out all the time, the world's an imperfect place." Cue blank looks from the three others; they didn't get it.
Please, someone, anyone...let me know that YOU get it.
