Chapter II - The story of the "secret hero"
“Grandma! Are you OK? Did you hurt anywhere? When did the accident happen? Why didn’t you call me right away? I don’t really trust the hospital here. Let’s go to Yamaguchi-sensei’s hospital later this afternoon to check again…”
Sho couldn’t finish his sentence when his grandma suddenly stopped him by her amusing laugh. “Daijobou, daijobou! Don’t make a fuss out of nothing! I can never imagine there would be a talkative Sho like the one just now…”
“ Grandma! I’m not kidding! Do you know how worried I was when I heard about the accident?” Sho asked, worries filled his voice.
“Hai, hai! Wakaru… I’m totally fine! Why does everyone worry so much?... Anyway, you should be more worried about the one who saved me today. His knee hurt pretty bad. Tsk, such a good child… He was exactly like you… Kept asking me a bunch of question just to make sure I was okay while he was the “not okay” one. Yet, he still went to work after getting out of the hospital while he could barely even walk… Before he left, he even asked the doctor to take care of me until you come so that I won’t feel lonely. I bet he must be scolded at work for being late.”
She’s back to her normal self now… Always care for other people… Sho thought while giving his grandma a big hug. “Ah!!!! You scared me, grandma!!! Please don’t ever do that again! At least be careful! You know I can’t live without you, right?”
Surprised by the sudden action but Sho’s grandma didn’t push him away. She loves her grandkid at least as much as he loves her. She always feels so lucky to have a grandson like Sho. Being the heir of Sakurai Corporation, the biggest corporation in Japan, at the age of twenty-five, Sakurai has never shown any arrogance towards others. And he has always been so grateful to his family, especially to her, his grandma. Despite the fact that Sho is her only grandkid, she’s pretty sure even if she had ten more grandkids, he would still probably be her favorite. Graduating from Keio University with the highest scores, studying abroad for three years, taking over a multi-billion-dollar corporation successfully, anyone who’s in Sho’s position would probably be aware that he knows a lot more things than a seventy-year-old lady like her. But Sho never thought or acted that way. Whenever there’s any problem, whether it’s related to business or not, Sho would always ask her for advice. Sometimes even she herself is surprised at how Sho would follow and listen to whatever she told him. She smiled to herself while tightening the hug, thinking about how baka her grandson can be sometimes.
“What are you thinking about, Grandma? Why are you smiling like that? Oh, and I will for sure go see the guy who saved you today to say thanks to him. Our family owes him a lot; I owe him a lot! Do you know how to contact him? Is he around here?” Sho asked, being more excited than usual. I wonder what type of person he is. Does he know who Grandma is…?
“Haiz…That kid is really crazy, you know. I asked him his contact information so that we could come and say thanks to him later on, but he insisted on not telling me anything. He said we don’t have to worry about thanking him or even remembering him because he was just doing something that anyone would do if they were in his situation. Then he just ran off with his broken knee without even letting me finish asking. I guess he works somewhere around here, but I have no clue where he works or lives… There are not that many good people like him around here. I’m so lucky to be saved by one, ne~!” Sho’s grandma said while sighing because of the fact that she wouldn’t be able to repay the strange kid for saving her life.
“Eh!? Hontou? Did he know who you are?” Sakurai asked, unable to hide his surprise at the stranger’s attitude.
“Of course not! He’s such a baka! The doctors there know our company and our family, so they treated me like a queen, but that kid didn’t notice at all. He kept telling the doctor to take care of me carefully. As if they were not careful enough…”
“Wow! He sounds like he is a really good person! Don’t worry, grandma! I will try to look for him. We definitely have to pay him back for saving you!” Sho finished his sentence with another big hug for his grandma before leaving her room. He had an important meeting in half an hour with a very big company in the US to discuss some cooperation between the two companies, so he had to get ready for it. Saying goodbye to his grandma, Sho couldn’t help but thinking about the “secret hero” who saved his grandma’s life.
