Ok, Clubbers, I have to run in a few and teach my students about standard deviations so will have to respond with more of my own thoughts later, but for the sake of getting the post up...
My first thought was "Did Shonda Rhimes consult on this?". But then, it struck me as brilliant-- how it was just random, and one minute Will was part of the everything and then poof. Especially with all the Alicia stuff just left hanging-- just brilliant

I think it's kind of funny how, no matter how sad/awful this whole thing is, Kalicia shippers are like, "...but there were A/K references, so it's really not that bad." Like, the fact that they were in each other's mental orbit trumps the horrible death of a main character.
Yes, exactly--I kind of hate myself for it, but there it is: parts of the episode really made me happy, just because any teeny tiny little A/K ANYTHING makes me reflexively happy. It's really bad. STUPID, STUPID SHOW!!

Yes, I am pro the randomness. It's something that will happen to most people in their life, hopefully not with someone incredibly dear to them.
My second thought was that although Kalinda hasn't had much to do in S5 (aside from this ep), at least they didn't off her. And I liked her parts in this ep-- from the A/C interchange where Cary tells Alicia they are seeing each other, and Alicia is like "um, I thought she was gay" and Cary is like "yeah, whatever" to the dialog with Will about what she was going to do in terms of move on/stay and why to the emotion about Will and her and Diane hanging together. It's nice that the show chose to give us her connection to these people as clear and genuine, and to show it onscreen. I think it's more of the internal Kalinda than we've ever

While across the couch, the Missus (fave character Will) was genuinely distraught and crying. I felt like such a heel!
