Well, I just got in from Phoenix today, and I'm experiencing a slight case of jet lag. In Arizona right now, it's only 10:00. "But Kelly," you say, "two hours doesn't make any difference at all." But I'm never sleepy at 10:00, and i'm not really sleepy now, so I blame the jet lag.
The past week has been phenomenal. I spent it with my mom's parents and her brother's family, basically just relaxing and swimming and shopping. We stayed at a cabin up in the mountain for 2 days and hit up a craft fair, which was extremely cool. Scott, being the random jacker that he is, bought two new instruments - a wooden flute called a kena, and a wooden thing with a lot of pipes called a siku (if you've ever seen Meet The Fockers, you know that crazy pipe instrument that Owen Wilson plays at the very end as he's marrying Greg and Pam? That's a siku. Yes, Scott bought one, and he serenaded us with it all week). My dad also surprised me with a book he bought for me - Streets of Laredo by Larry McMurtry, because the book I was reading SUCKED and I wanted a new one. Streets of Laredo is the sequel to Lonesome Dove, and it's pretty darn good so far. I bet Megan has read it...
I also thoroughly expanded my DVD collection. There was a store called Bookman's Warehouse near my grandparents, and it is freakin awesome. It has used books, used dvds, cds, everything, all extremely cheap. I got Rent, My Best Friend's Wedding, Catch Me if you Can, My Cousin Vinny, and Crash. I am very excited about these movies indeed.
Another cool part of the week - last night we went to a major league baseball game, the Diamondbacks against the Dodgers. The cool part: my uncle is really good friends with the Diamondback's doctor, so he was able to get us front row seats directly behind the dugout. That's pretty much as close as you can get. The uncool part: he could only get us 7 tickets, so for most of the game, Jenn and Jill and I were stuck with the $1 tickets, at the VERY top of the stadium, while the rest of the family was right on the field. That's pretty much as far away as you can get. But we did get to spend the last 3 innings in the good seats, and I got some great pictures from that. Good times.
And finally...
The greatest quote of the entire week:
My cousin Connor has become obsessed with wrestling, for some reason. So Wrestle Mania was on at the his house, and "The Undertaker" was attacking some really big black guy.
My Dad: "That is one large African American."
Connor (COMPLETELY serious): "No, I think he's from Texas."
All in all, great week out in Phoenix. And now... I am done updating.
Goodbye.
